N is for Nepenthe

Ne-'pen(t)-thee. This is what happens when you go to the dictionary for inspiration. I word that I must spell phonetically for my readers.

It turns out the word nepenthe, which I have never even heard before, is relevant to my life. Nepenthe is something that causes the oblivion of grief, sorrow or suffering. It was a potion for ancient Greeks. Drink this nepenthe and presto! Memory of your pain and suffering is gone.

I need this potion for my parents. Their grief hangs on them dank and cool, like fog that creeps up from the river bottom. It keeps them from being in the light and love of those of us who are alive.
