M is for Matrix

Not the movie. I'm thinking of matrix-ed organizations. When an company is matrix-ed (and yes, that is not a real word; it's a business word) it means people are often in two groups - a business unit, one with a profit and loss statement, fiscal accountability as well as a "functional" group, say communications. People can easily hide out in these matrices and literally get nothing done because the goals of the two superiors are diametrically opposed to one another.

OK, I know this is stupid, boring blog. Here's my point, no one has any say-so in a matrix and when you're trying to get work done...good luck!
