Pedal Penance

Last Sunday I biked 35 miles. I have probably only biked 35 miles one or two times in my life. Why Sunday? Why in 90-degree weather? Because Michael wanted to do it and I literally went along for the ride. I like to challenge myself and PROVE I can do things even if I hate doing them. I have a bit of the medieval hair shirt kind of mentality. This was definitely a hair shirt. Penance for my meltdown and self pity on Saturday. As you can see by the photo taken by Michael on the Stone Arch bridge, I was cleansed. The the heat, the effort and the sweat washed away my sins. I'm smiling!

We had only a couple of miles to go at this point but that last hill up the West River Parkway, just past Bohemian Flats was a killer. I didn't get off my bike. 1st gear, head down, pedaled all the way up. Sometimes I'm just like that.
