Today was frustrating. Yeah, yeah, yeah you say. I am always saying that. Maybe I don't have the chops for this business anymore.
I am working on an event for a conservative Indiana client. It's an employee meeting with an employee choir. The choir was going to sing two numbers, a new tune by the Baha Men called, The Best Years of Our Lives, and an old tune, True Colors.
Today, the conservative company said we can't use True Colors because it is recently associated with a Human Rights Campaign (Gay, Lesbian) music tour. Their email said, We CANNOT USE THIS SONG because of WHAT IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH. What, human rights?
The event is next Tuesday. We really can't replace the song easily. And who is going to tell the choir why they can't sing this song? Perhaps this will backfire on them. I actually hope it does. This decision shows their true colors.
